After an exciting couple of weeks, gathering troops, spreading the word, and trying to get as many votes as possible for Little People of BC, Phillips decided to announce the winner of the 2012 Benefit Brew early (they told me, ‘why make good people wait?’). I agree! Unfortunately LPBC did not win the contest (sad face). Upon further inquiry, it happens that we did really good, but not quite good enough. We came in a very close second place, just 200 votes short. My curious, must-know-every-detail brain quickly did the math; had only 12 or so more people voted daily, we would have won (another sad face). I would be lying if I said I wasn’t bummed about the results, especially to know how close it was and to know what a huge difference it could have made to LPBC.
But as the LPBC President reminded us, our motto is ‘heighten your awareness’. And that…I know we did. I know hundreds, if not thousands of people have now heard of LPBC, whereas 3 weeks ago they had not. That in itself is a wonderful thing. I have many years ahead of me for education and awareness surrounding dwarfism, this is only the beginning.
